Wafer OSS solution

Wafer OSS stands for a set of comprehensive BSS/OSS solution designed for future ISNs (integrated services network). Wafer OSS meets business operators’ needs on opening, maintenance, and management of soft switch businesses. It helps operators to make fully use of the soft switch system resources in providing high quality integrated voice data services in a comprehensive, timely, and accurate manner. Wafer OSS fulfills customers’ requirements in personalized network services.


Objective & Features


OSS is a software system designed especially for sustaining stability and high performance. Various characteristics of NGN (next generation network) bring forward diverse requirements for OSS in different stages of development. All features of OSS should be suitable for the characteristics of NGN, so that Wafer OSS solution has to be compatible with the NGN.
NGN has following features:
NGN supports multiple businesses, including voice, data, and multimedia. Meanwhile, it supports personalization, mobility, flexibility, and opening of businesses. For this purpose, OSS should be designed as multiple business supportive and business independent.
NGN provides open interfaces compatible with interfaces of various standards for business connection with third party products. This means that not only device may come from difference manufacturers, but also OSS systems may come from different vendors. Therefore, the OSS system of NGN must be capable of coordinating other OSS systems and devices provided by third parties.
In order to meet requirements of multiple IP businesses, NGN supports telecommunications-level QoS and high reliability. Thus, Wafer OSS for network maintenance and management must has telecommunications-level QoS and high reliability too.


The development of telecommunications companies is step by step, so telecommunications companies cannot shake off immediately traditional operation systems. Thus, they need to preserve the original investments in both device and software. Water-OSS provides maximum protection of the existing OSS systems.

To obtain the above four goals, we prepare following solutions strategy.


Service Provisioning


The subsystem Wafer Service Provisioning mainly handles business opening, maintenance, upgrading, and management of various resources of the whole network. Telecom operators can develop and customize new Provisioning modules according to their actual businesses. Meanwhile, Provisioning supports a variety of network devices and application software provided by various vendors.


Billing Module


Oriented to present and future telecommunication businesses, Billing System offers an open and uniform multiple business billing and accounting management methodology to telecom carriers regarding the integration trend of wireless and data services. Telecom carriers can provide a more flexible and multiple business oriented preferential strategy to enhance their market competency. It integrates the businesses at all levels, including system structure, data organization, application processing, and data management, etc. The system supports billing of voice, data, and Internet businesses, as well as flexible adjustment of billing strategy according to business types and intersection services.

Resources Management


Resource management optimizes resources and keeps the whole system on the track. The Resource Management module is designed to management of devices, applications, and clients etc.


Topology Management


The topology management function depicts in 2-dimentional graphs the structure of the whole network. It shows status of devices, ports, and links of the network. The status of links are set to the status of link end routers.


Alarming Management


The alarming management module collects, display in runtime mode, confirms, and transmits alarm messages, as well as make inquiry and deletes history alarm records according to conditions set.,so that the web administrators can have instant and accurate information of the status of the system to take actions against all defects and ensure the stable running of the system.


Performance Management


The performance management module collects and stores OID values from all device MIB tress. It shows information of change of all performance parameters to users. Users can check the trend of change of a certain parameter of a certain device during a given time span of the past, as well as runtime changes.
