(Beijing 9th October 2000) Leading network solutions and service
provider, Wafer Systems today announced that the telecommunications
department of Deqing Prefecture, Zhejiang Province has selected
its comprehensive network solution to deploy a carrier grade IP-based
broadband network. The network covers the entire Deqing Region.
When the installation of the Deqing broadband network is completed,
it will enable the telecommunications department to deliver the
broadest range of high-speed and high-quality IP services including
Internet access, VPN video conferencing, Video-on-demand and other
high bandwidth applications to government units, businesses and
residential customers. This deployment further certifies the superior
performance of Wafer's technology and solutions as well as the
recognition of Wafer's unique services by telcos in China. Wafer
Systems has a proven track record in working with the government,
finance, telecommunications and broadcasting industries.
The number of Internet users has been growing dramatically in
the recent years. Web-based applications which are bandwidth hungry
now preside in all kinds of industries resulting in a dramatic
increase in internet traffic. Existing network performance will
further deteriorate with future Internet growth and will be incapable
of meeting future needs. Users will become frustrated with network
bottlenecks when they cannot smoothly capture video and voice
applications with lower access speed.
In order to overcome the above problems, Wafer Systems built
Deqing Telecommunications network with the intention to handle
the fast growing demand of high-bandwidth internet traffic. The
backbone of the network utilizing three fiber inter-connected
Gigabit Core routers to support a vast infrastructure of backbone
and access routers for server farms and access via ATM, DDN and
Frame Relay. The state-of-the-art network delivers superior performance
based on Quality-of-Service (QoS), Class-of-Service(CoS), security,
manageablility and scalability. Through the robust switching speed,
Deqing's Telecommunications Department will able to link the networks
of 16 villages and municipals together and bring the planned "16+1"
joint network program into reality.
With the high speed and comprehensive services comprising data,
voice and video the network opened a channel for enterprises and
government organizations to develop the broadest range of IP services
including VPN, video conferencing, video on demand and distant
learning.
